What if I am not happy with my Results – View your Leaving Cert Scripts?

A Career To Love

Life is about using the whole box of crayons

What if I am not happy with my results. This is a very common question on the day of Leaving Cert Results and in the days that follow. The first thing you need to do if you are not happy with your results is to view your Leaving Cert Scripts.

View your Leaving Cert scripts.

The form that you need to use to apply for Review & Recheck is in your envelope alongside your Leaving Cert results.

Make all applications to view your Leaving Cert scripts through your school before Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016. All of the information that you need to make the application to view your script is supplied by your school.

You can view your scripts during one of following three sessions in your school

Session 1.  Friday, 2nd September 2016 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm
Session 2.  Saturday, 3rd September 2016 9.00 am to 12.00 noon
Session 3. Saturday, 3rd September 2016 from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm

Bring support to view your Leaving Cert scripts

While you are not allowed to take anything into the room, you can bring somebody with you for support.

If you are very unhappy with a particular result, you can ask your subject to come along with you. Your teacher can offer you support,  give their advice and suggest if you should have your paper rechecked. The decision to accompany you is up to each teacher. No teacher is obliged to accompany you, but many are happy to do so.

You must be present to view the scripts yourself. You cannot allow a parent/guardian or anybody else to view the scripts on your behalf.

What can you see when viewing your Leaving Cert Scripts

Reviewing your papers allows you to see the marking scheme as applied to your paper. It is a free service that you should avail. Viewing your Leaving Cert scripts gives you the opportunity to check that

  1. each mark is totalled correctly and
  2. that the overall mark you were awarded is accurate.

If there are any administrative errors regarding the marking of your script the State Examinations Commission and the CAO will liaise. Once the mistake is rectified, you are awarded your correct mark and corresponding points. Your amended Leaving Cert script is subsequently issued.

If you are then entitled to a place in college based the recheck the CAO offers it to you within a few days.
